Salt Lake City, UT : Two men killed in wrong-way crash near Magna on Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Police are releasing the names of two people who died after a man driving the wrong way on State Road 201 hit another car head-on.

The Utah Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Farlaino G. Earl of Midvale was going east in the westbound lanes about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he hit an westbound car driven by 38-year-old Joseph Reiley of Tooele.

Troopers say both men were killed instantly. No one else was in either car.

Investigators say Earl must have been going the wrong way on the road for a while because the two sides of the road are separated by a long cement barrier.

Police are investigating whether Earl was exhausted at the time of the crash. Officers don't believe he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
