ANDERSON, IN : Two drivers critically injured in collision on U.S. 36 on Thursday, September 14, 2017
Two people were reported in critical condition Thursday following a two-car crash on U.S. 36.
Kylar McCrobie, 18, of New Castle, was driving a silver 2012 Ford Focus westbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 500 East when he allegedly strayed into the eastbound lane several times, according to Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger. The car driven by McCrobie collided with a 2009 maroon Chevrolet Impala driven by Kristine M. Sidwell, 50, of Anderson.
The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m.
Both drivers were transported to St. Vincent Indianapolis in critical condition. Mellinger said Sidwell had serious injuries, but the injuries weren't believed to be life threatening. MCrobie's injuries remained very serious and critical, Mellinger said. Gene Foster of St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital said an updated condition for McCrobie couldn't be released by the hospital at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
No one else was in either car, Mellinger said. One of the cars was upside-down with entrapment when emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
The highway was closed during the investigation.
