Brevard County, FL : Pedestrian killed in Brevard County crash on State Road 50 on Wednesday, 5th September 2018

A pedestrian was hit and killed along a Brevard County road Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on State Road 50. Troopers say Michael Roman Catalano, 26, was driving his Kia Optima eastbound. The pedestrian, who hasn’t been publicly identified, was walking in the travel lane when Catalano hit and killed him about a half-mile west of Plantation Drive, FHP spokeswoman Lt. Kim Montes said.

Troopers say Catalano fled the scene, but later called law enforcement to report the crash. He was not injured.

Authorities say charges are pending in the crash.
