ANDREWS COUNTY, TX : Two Andrews residents are dead after a three-vehicle collision on Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Two Andrews residents are dead after a three-vehicle collision 2 miles east of Andrews on Tuesday, according to a report from the Department of Public Safety.
A Chevrolet Captiva and Ford F-250 were traveling east on State Highway 176 around 8:09 p.m. when the Captiva slowed down to make a turn into a private drive on the northside of the roadway, according to DPS. The Ford F-250 struck the Captiva in the rear and pushed the SUV into the westbound lane where it stuck a Chrevrolet 2500 pickup that was traveling west on SH 176.
The driver of Captiva -- Ruben H. Luna, 65, of Andrews -- and a passenger in the car -- Belinda M. Castillo, 49, of Andrews -- were pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS. A 14-year-old child passenger in the Captiva was transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews with a “incapacitating injury.” The driver of the Chrevrolet 2500 pickup also was transported to PRMC. The driver of the Ford F-250 was not injured.
