A section of a Wilmington home was severely damaged after a vehicle crashed into it Tuesday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson with the Wilmington Police Department, the wreck was first reported around 1:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Chalmers Drive near South College Road in the Pine Valley community.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the accident and the driver of the vehicle apparently fled the scene. According to police, the vehicle was reported stolen from a home on Waltmoor Road — less than a mile from the site of the crash — around 3:30 a.m. this morning.
