ROCKFORD, IL : 'Serious injury' crash in the 2600 block of Landstrom Road, near Cerro Vista Drive on Monday, 6th January, 2020

A 54-year-old woman has died after crashing an SUV into a tree Monday morning in the 2600 block of Landstrom Road, near Cerro Vista Drive.

The woman was driving west shortly before 7 a.m. when she swerved, lost control and hit the tree, police said in a news release. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Landstrom Road was closed between Forest Hills Road and the 2900 block of Landstrom until 1:30 p.m. while police investigated.
