Cape Coral, FL : Three people injured after wreck on on Pine Island Road and N.E. 24th Avenue on Saturday morning, February 21, 2015
Cape Coral Police are investigating a crash that sent three people to the hospital Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 10 30 a.m. on Pine Island Road and N.E. 24th Avenue.
Cape Coral neighbors want something done about an intersection they deem dangerous. It comes as police investigate a serious crash on Pine Island Road that sent a young boy and two others to the hospital.
"I just prayed to God and thanked God. I don't have nothing," said Clody Presmy who was involved in the crash Saturday.
Clody Presmy was fortunate to walk away with only bruises from the mangled mess. We were there as three people were taken away on stretchers.
"Just about every weekend there's a wreck here," said Andre Thomas, a witness.
Andre Thomas lives yards away from the crash. She heard the loud bang and quickly rushed over to help. Witnesses say one pickup truck tried to cross a busy Pine Island Road. But then, another pickup truck crashed into it. The driver of one of the trucks then backed up into an SUV.
"When that car backed up on me, I feared something else could happen," said Presmy.
Neighbors tell us stop signs are not doing enough to prevent bad crashes at the intersection. Residents want more safety measures put up -- like a traffic light.
"I really do think that something needs to be done or be cautioned when you come here," said Thomas.
We reached out to Lee County officials about concerns at the intersection. We are told leaders will be able to provide a response on Monday.
