A Ridgefield man was killed early Monday in a one-car crash near the Seymour town line, officials said.
State police said Noah Benjamin Lubitz, 23, of 15 Craigmoor Road North, Ridgefield, was traveling south on Route 67 near the Double-R Mobile gas station at the Seymour town line when the 2006 Toyota Highlander he was
driving inexplicably left the road, reports indicate.
The vehicle traveled 100 feet through a wooded area and slammed head-on into a dirt embankment on the other side of a brook, troopers said.
It took rescuers seven minutes to cut down trees to reach the vehicle, then remove its door to extricate Lubitz, police said.
Lubitz was administered CPR at the scene, but was later declared dead at Waterbury Hospital, according to police.
The crash is being investigated by the State Police Accident Reconstruction team.
