San Bernardino, CA : Two people died after a speeding car hit struck another during a police chase in San Bernardino early Monday, March 28, 2016

Two people have died after a speeding car crashed into another vehicle during a police chase in San Bernardino.

The crash early Monday was so intense it destroyed the front end of one car and sent its engine flying onto the street.

Authorities say a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy began chasing a black Honda in the city of Colton at around 5 a.m. but the deputy backed off as the car hit speeds of up to 100 mph.

A short time later, the Honda blew through a stoplight and struck a Mustang in San Bernardino.

Both cars crashed through the fence of a nearby business and hit the building.

The Honda driver and a passenger in the Mustang were killed. The Mustang's driver had minor injuries.
