SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA : Pedestrian killed by car after leaving hospital on Saturday, 10th September 2016

The California Highway Patrol are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian last night on Madison Avenue near Linda Sue Way in Sacramento County.A man who was just released from Mercy San Juan Hospital was walking in a lane of eastbound Madison Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

A driver of a white Hyunai Accent was traveling in the same direction when he spotted the pedestrian walking in the roadway.

The driver tried to brake, but could not avoid hitting him. The 69-year-old pedestrian from Sacramento died at the scene.

The driver of the Hyunai is 63-years-old and from Fair Oaks.

CHP Officer Chad Hertzell said neither negligence, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
