MONROE, WI : 2 injured in crash with school bus in Monroe on Wednesday, 29th May 2019
Eleven Monroe students suffered minor injuries when a van and a school bus collided, according to Monroe Police Department officials.
Initially, authorities reported three students were taken to the hospital. Chief Fred Kelley now says 11 kids, between 5 to 15 years old, reported having minor injuries. One 5-year-old boy was brought to the hospital by ambulance. The other 10 students rode another school bus that arrived at the scene after their bus was damaged in the crash.
First responders were called to a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of 8th Street and Highway 69 at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday. Officials said responding to a bus crash involving students added another level of seriousness and concern.
"I mean obviously when we hear of an accident involving a school bus there's more concern to a first responder," Kelley said.
