Lewiston, ID : Lewiston crash sends two to area hospitals on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Emergency responders tend to an injured person after a two-vehicle accident on the corner of 17th Street and 23rd Avenue in Lewiston on Tuesday. According to a Lewiston Police Department news release, Sheldon Klinkefus, 24, of Lewiston, was driving a 1996 Chevy S-10 pickup truck south on 17th Street and collided with a 1994 Oldsmobile 88 driven by Marilyn Carter, 76, of Lewiston. Police say Carter failed to yield for the stop sign at the intersection. Lewiston medics took Carter to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, and Klinkefus was taken to Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston. Seventeenth Street was blocked for about two hours while officers investigated the scene.
