Four people were killed in a vehicle crash late Monday night in Rocky Mount, Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the crash happened on North Wesleyan Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. right outside of North Carolina Wesleyan College. Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved in the crash.
Four people in one of the vehicles were all killed. The driver of the other vehicle involved was taken to Nash General Hospital and is expected to survive.
North Carolina Wesleyan College issued a statement about the crash late Monday.
“This evening a terrible and unthinkable tragedy struck the North Carolina Wesleyan Family,” the statement reads. “We have activated our crisis plan and our crisis team is present on campus. Right now our total efforts are focused on the NC Wesleyan community and the families of those effected.”
First responders first learned about the crash when an EMS crew happened to drive up on the scene.
Police are still investigating a possible cause of the crash.
“We ask for the prayers and thoughts of all people and ask the blessings and hand of Christ upon the families and friends of those we have lost,” the college said in a statement.
