San Pedro man killed in 110 Freeway motorcycle crash California
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash on the southbound 110 Freeway just north of the Gaffey Street exit, California Highway Patrol officers said.Leonard Fell, 43, of San Pedro was riding a 1997 Honda motorcycle in the fast lane at a high rate of speed when he hit a pole about 10:30 a.m., according to a CHP news release.
“For an unknown reason, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, swerved left onto the center median and struck the metal pole of the overhead sign,” the release stated.Fell, the father of a 4-year-old boy, was taken to County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m.Even though Fell was wearing a helmet, the collision caused “major blunt force traumatic injuries,” the CHP said.
