MARLBORO TWP, OH : A Minerva-area man was killed on April, Sunday 30th 2017

A Minerva-area man was killed Sunday afternoon when the car he was driving was involved in a two-vehicle crash at Paris Avenue and State Street NE.

The victim was identified as Duane Shook Jr., 19, of Paris Township. Shook had been driving a Dodge Neon at about 3 p.m. Sunday south on Paris Avenue NE when he failed to yield the right of way at the intersection with State Street NE, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The Dodge Neon ran into a Toyota Highlander which had been traveling west on State Street NE, according to state troopers. The Toyota was driven by a woman who was transported to Mercy Medical Center. Her injuries were not believed to be serious. Shook was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge Neon landed in a field off the side of the road on its top. The other vehicle landed in a road-side ditch.
