One person died and another was critically injured Sunday in a five-vehicle crash that closed Route 51 for about four hours.
The crash happened about 5:50 p.m. near Woodruff Street in Pittsburgh's Duquesne Heights neighborhood when a vehicle jumped the divider and crashed into oncoming traffic, public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.
The driver of the vehicle, a man whose arm was severed, was rushed to UPMC Mercy in critical condition. A woman riding in the vehicle was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Two were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
