Sullivan County , NY :58- Year old Morris Faitelewicz and his Three family members killed after car crash in upstate New York on Monday ,September 7th 2015

first responder and respected former member of the NYPD auxiliary police was killed, along with his wife and daughter’s fiancé, in an upstate car crash Monday, authorities said.

Morris Faitelewicz, 58, Beth Faitelewicz, 54, and Yehuda Bayme, 31, died when their SUV rolled over on Route 17, in Sullivan County around 4:30 p.m., police said.

The Lower East Side couple’s two sons, Yaakov and Avi, and daughter, Shani, who are all in their mid-20s, were hospitalized after the crash and were expected to survive, friends said.

It was not clear who was driving and the cause of the single-vehicle crash was under investigation.

In 2002, Faitelewicz accepted a City Council proclamation for his supervision of auxiliary police and EMS units, which are all volunteers.

“Beth and Morris didn’t just lend a hand to help downtown recover from 9/11, they put everything they had into helping lower Manhattan and the city come back,” said former next-door neighbor Stu Loeser.

“Beth was tireless as a nurse at Beth Israel,” added Loeser, who also was the spokesman for former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

“She was much loved in the hospital,” said friend Jacob Goldman, 44. “They were just great people, everyone loved them. The community is in shock here.”

Assemblyman Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) remembered Faitelewicz as a selfless volunteer.

“I knew him probably 40 years,” Silver said. “He moved in around the corner. We went to the same synagogue. He spent most of his life in the community. He was dedicated to making sure that life in the community was as good as can be. That was it.”

The patriarch was a tireless member of Community Board 3 and a member of Hatzolah, a Jewish volunteer ambulance service, friends said.

Bayme, Shani Faitelewicz’s fiancé had just moved into the neighborhood and “everybody loved him,” said Goldman.
