Hillister, TX : 86-year-old dies after crash with 18-wheeler on U.S. 69 on Friday, May 6, 2016

A Warren man died on Sunday after sustaining injuries in a crash involving an 18-wheeler on U.S. 69 near FM 1013 in Hillister two days earlier.

Earl Ray Seals, 86, was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in serious condition on Friday, according to Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Stephanie Davis.

A 1996 Peterbuilt 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on U.S. 69 when Seals pulled out of a convenience store in front of the truck, according to a release from DPS. The 18-wheeler struck Seals' 2009 Ford pickup, sending both vehicles along southbound lanes of U.S. 69 before coming to a rest on the southbound shoulder of the highway. The crash happened at around 11:15 a.m.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Jose Seledon, 52, of Onalaska, was not injured in the crash.
