Lubbock, TX : Man in critical condition following crash in West Lubbock early Thursday morning, February 23, 2017

One person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in West Lubbock.

Orlando Luna, 24, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries that were believed to be life threatening, according to Lubbock Police Department spokeswoman Tiffany Pelt.

At about 1:45 a.m., Pelt said, officers responded to the 5400 block of Fourth Street near West Loop 289 following reports of a crash. Officers report a Nissan Altima driven by Luna was in the westbound lane of Fouth Street and had traveled onto the center median and into a light pole.

Pelt says Luna is stable but in critical condition. An LPD Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene as investigators are looking into alcohol as a possible factor in the crash.
