Milwaukee, WI : One dead, driver sought in hit-and-run crash in Milwaukee on early Wednesday, August 6, 2014
A hit-and-run crash on Milwaukee northwest side early Wednesday left one person dead, according to officials, as police continue to search for the driver.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office reported one death in the crash just after midnight in the 5400 block of N. Lovers Lane Road.
A 35-year-old Milwaukee man was struck by a maroon or burgundy late model sedan as he attempted to cross the street. A 1999 Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old Milwaukee man then struck the pedestrian for a second time, according to a news release from the Milwaukee Police Department.
The driver of the Honda Accord remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, but police have not identified the initial striking vehicle that left the crash.
The crash prompted the closure of all northbound lanes of Highway 100 until just before 4:30 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
Police have not released any other information about the victim and continue to investigate. Officials ask that anyone with information related to the initial striking vehicle call the Milwaukee Police.
