FORT PAYNE, AL : Man killed in DeKalb Co crash following police pursuit on Saturday, 13th July 2024

A man was killed in a DeKalb County crash following a police pursuit early Saturday morning.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), a single-vehicle crash happened around 2:49 a.m. on DeKalb County 248 when a 2020 Nissan Maxima left the road, hit a utility pole, hit a tree and then overturned.

Authorities said the driver of the Nissan, identified as Cody W. Ashley, 19 of Fort Payne, was being pursued by the Fort Payne Police Department. Ashley was pronounced dead at the scene.
