Laredo,TX : Suspect in Laredo crash that killed woman on June, Monday 12th 2017
A trial date has been set in the 406th District Court for a man who allegedly caused the death of a 28-year-old woman and injury to her 1-year-old daughter after colliding with their vehicle in 2015.
According to court records and the crash report, Juan Ricardo Morales was driving under the influence, and he also told authorities after the collision that he had not slept in the past 27 hours.
A grand jury indicted Morales in April on one count of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony, for the death of Vanessa Urrutia Martinez. He also faces one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony, for the injuries sustained to Urrutia’s daughter, Alezandra Urrutia.
Records state jury selection in Morales’ case is scheduled to begin Sept. 11.
