Shelbyville, KY : A Shelby County teen was killed in an ATV accident on Monday, October, 30th 2017
A Shelby County teen was killed Monday night in an ATV accident on his family’s farm, said officials with the Shelby County Coroner’s office.
Shelby County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeff Ivers said that Ryan Lee, 13, was killed in an ATV accident on Rockbridge Road Monday at 6:30 p.m.
“Thirteen-year-old Ryan Lee of Shelbyville was riding an ATV on a family farm; the ATV overturned,” he said, adding that EMS was called. “Upon EMS arrival, the young man was in cardiac arrest. EMS performed CPR and transported him to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, where he was pronounced dead.”
Shelby County Sheriff’s Detective Eric Hettinger said that deputies were on the scene, but that the coroner’s office was the main investigating agency.
“When there is no suspicion of foul play or any criminal acts, we just act in a support role,” said Hettinger. “We were there and we assisted the coroner, but we didn’t do a separate report.”
Ivers said Lee did not have a passenger on the vehicle.
He was taken to Shannon Funeral Home where arrangements are pending.
