Brevard County, FL : One person dead and two people injured near northbound lanes of I-95 at Garden Street in a fiery fatal crash on Saturday evening September 13th 2014
All northbound lanes of I-95 at Garden Street are back open after a fiery fatal crash at mile marker 223 in Mims that killed one person and injured several others.
State troopers say the crash occurred at 6:40 P.M. on Saturday. The crash started when a semi-truck traveling northbound on I-95 lost control and hit a guard rail. After the impact, the tractor trailer blocked all northbound lanes and part of the exit ramp to SR-46.
According to the report, a second semi-truck traveling northbound failed to see that the traffic was stopped. The second semi then struck five vehicles in the left, northbound lane. The second semi-truck then rear ended a third semi-truck, which then hit three additional vehicles that were all traveling northbound.
Troopers also say the driver of the second semi that failed to stop and caught fire died at the scene and has not been identified. One other vehicle also caught fire. The female driver in that vehicle escaped. Two people were transported to Parrish Hospital with minor injuries. An unknown amount of others were treated at the scene.
State Troopers say after inspecting the roadway, the exit ramp from Northbound I-95 to SR-46 will remain shut down indefinitely for repairs.
