Ionia, MI : 45-year-old Portland man dead after an accident in Ionia Thursday night, OCtober 20, 2016

A 45-year-old Portland man is dead after an accident Thursday night in Ionia.

According to the Ionia County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to East Bluewater Highway near Hillcrest Drive for a fatal accident on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 5:52 p.m.

Investigation shows that the man was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson west on East Bluewater Highway when he drifted off the right side of the road and hit several trees.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the accident is still under investigation.

Ionia Department of Public Safety, Life Ambulance, Ionia County Victim Advocates and Reed and Hoppes Towing also assisted with the incident.
