Raleigh, NE : I-85S reopens near Charlotte following serious multiple vehicle crash on Saturday, October, 7th 2017

Interstate 85 South near Charlotte was closed Saturday afternoon, following a serious crash involving multiple vehicles, officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

The crash happened shortly after 2:40 p.m. near Exit 27, and involved as many as 20 vehicles, the Gastonia Fire Department said. The road reopened around 5:30 p.m., Observer news partner WBTV reported.

Details on injuries were not provided.
