Dover, DE : A multi-vehicle crash in which three people were injured near the Christiana Mall on Wednesday, August 9, 2017

The Delaware State Police continue to investigate a multi-vehicle crash in which three people were injured Wednesday afternoon near the Christiana Mall

The crash happened at about 3:19 p.m., as Alfonzo Cruz, 39, of Elkton, Maryland, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram south on Route 1, said Master Cpl. Jeffrey R. Hale

Just north of Route 273 (Christiana Road), traffic in front of Cruz stopped suddenly due to debris in the road.

Cruz was unable to stop in time, and the front of his truck hit the back of a 2008 BMW 528i driven by a 32-year-old Dover man, Hale said.

The back of Cruz’s vehicle was then struck by the front of a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a 70-year-old Bear woman.

The rear of the Toyota was hit by the front of a 2017 Rexhall tractor-trailer, driven by a 51-year-old Middletown man.
