Motorcycle driver dies after crashing into curb in west Columbia
A motorcycle driver died after a crash that occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday in west Columbia.
Fire crews responded to a report of a motorcycle accident and found bystanders performing CPR on the injured rider, identified by police as Michael E. Roseman, 40. Roseman’s motorcycle, a 1996 Kawasaki was several feet away off the roadway.
A witness told police Roseman had hit a concrete curb in front of a residence at 4215 Wales Drive and lost control of the motorcycle. He was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the grass nearby,west of where it hit the curb.
He was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m., police said.
No other vehicles or injuries were involved.There were no passengers riding with Roseman, who was driving with a revoked license and did not have a motorcycle endorsement, police said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
A police investigation was ongoing. Sgt. Joe Bernhard said this morning he did not have any further details on the circumstances crash.
According to a Columbia Police Department news release, the accident occurred on West Broadway approaching the curve into Scott Boulevard.
