Dane County, WI : 55-year-old man was dead when tire smashes through windshield on Interstate 39-90 on early Monday morning September 29th 2014

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed Monday morning on Interstate 39-90 as Mark C. Bolan, 55, of Lombard, IL. A tire that came off a vehicle on Interstate 39/90 early Monday smashed through the windshield of a car heading in the opposite direction, killing the car's passenger. The fatal crash happened at about 1:20 a.m. in the westbound (northbound) lanes about two miles south of the Beltline interchange, the State Patrol said in a news release. The driver of the car struck by the tire was not injured. The State Patrol said the tire that came off the eastbound (southbound) vehicle went through the windshield and struck the passenger, a 55-year-old man from Lombard, Illinois. The driver lost control of the car and slid into the concrete barrier along the right shoulder. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office.
