Hershey ,NE : 28-year-old North Platte man Fatally injured while driving his motorcycle along U.S. Highway 30 in western Nebraska on Monday morning ,March 16th 2015

A 28-year-old North Platte man has been fatally injured while driving his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 30 in western Nebraska.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred around 6:35 a.m. Monday in Hershey. The Sheriff's Office says Kevin Engleman was driving his motorcycle west when he swerved to avoid hitting a dog in the roadway. Engleman lost control of the bike and it crashed, leaving Engleman in the westbound lanes.

The Sheriff's Office says Engleman then was struck by a westbound pickup whose driver apparently couldn't see Engleman because of the darkness.

Engleman was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is being investigated.
