ABINGDON, VA : Tennessee woman killed in hit-run crash in Virginia on Tuesday, 16th August, 2016
Virginia State Police say a Tennessee woman was killed after her car was rear-ended near Abingdon.
The agency said in a news release that 55-year-old Laurie Puckett of Bristol, Tennessee, was driving a Ford Focus on Route 75 in Virginia Tuesday evening. Troopers say her car was rear-ended by a Corvette driven by 52-year-old Douglas Pruitt of Meadowville, Virginia.
Authorities say the impact pushed Puckett's car into oncoming traffic. Police say Puckett's car collided head-on with a Dodge Dart driven by 32-year-old Richard Neis of Bristol, Tennessee.
Troopers say Puckett was pronounced dead at the scene and Neis was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police say Pruitt was arrested after leaving the scene of the crash. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony fatal hit-and-run and other offenses.
