Johnstown, PA : 5-year-old boy hurt in Johnstown bike-bus collision on Wednesday, March 22, 2017

A 5-year-old child was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center – and eventually flown to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC – after colliding with a CamTran bus in Johnstown’s Moxham neighborhood on Wednesday.

The unidentified boy received injuries to his head, according to the Johnstown Police Department.

A nurse, who was there as a bystander, administered medical care until an ambulance arrived.

“He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision,” city police Sgt. Erin Kabler said.

The accident happened at Jacob Street and Cypress Avenue about 4:30 p.m.

The boy apparently rode his bicycle in front of the bus, which stopped immediately after the accident occurred, according to information provided to the police.

“There were a couple good witnesses, and it was very clear what happened at the scene,” Kabler said.
