GREENVILLE, SC : Teen killed in White Horse Road crash on Wednesday, November 16th 2016
Greenville, South Carolina
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a teen driver was killed and two other drivers were hospitalized after a crash in Greenville County Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers said the collision occurred around 5 p.m. on White Horse Road near North Washington Avenue.
A fatality was reported in the crash. The coroner identified the victim as 19-year-old Cody Joseph Crocker of Greenville. Crocker was reportedly unrestrained in the vehicle when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
The coroner said Crocker was ejected from the vehicle and suffered multiple blunt force trauma. He died in surgery at 6:25 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Troopers said Crocker was heading south on White Horse Road in a 2008 Chevrolet when he crossed the center line and was hit by two oncoming vehicles: a 2006 Pontiac and a 2005 Ford.
The driver of the Pontiac, an 18-year-old woman from Greenville, and the driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old woman from Greenville, were both entrapped in their vehicles. Troopers said emergency responders used mechanical means to free both women and they were both taken to the hospital with injuries.
Troopers initially reported the crash as a hit-and-run, but said after more witnesses came forward they said it does not appear any vehicles involved fled the scene.
