OAK RIDGE, MO : Southeast Missouri woman dies after truck crashes into home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017
Authorities say a 71-year-old woman has died after a driver crashed a pickup truck into a southeast Missouri home.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Verla Clippard. The patrol says she was struck Tuesday morning when the truck went off the side of a highway northwest of the Cape Girardeau County town of Jackson. The truck went through two fences before hitting Clippard who was in the home. The truck then struck an outbuilding and a parked truck. Clippard died at the scene.
The patrol's crash report didn't say about what happened to the driver. Court records show he pleaded guilty in 2012 to operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license. A patrol spokesman didn't immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press.
