Macoupin County, IL : Motorcyclist airlifted after Macoupin County crash on Sunday, 16th September 2018

A man was airlifted from a Macoupin County roadway after his Harley-Davidson motorcycle rear-ended a tractor afternoon, Illinois State Police reported.

Dannie Reels, 65, of Girard suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Reels was driving a 1994 Harley-Davidson north on Illinois 111 just north of Chesterfield at about 3 p.m. when he attempted to pass a John Deere tractor while the tractor was turning left into a driveway, police said. Reels struck the rear of the tractor and then he was trapped under his bike, which came to rest in the southbound ditch.

The tractor was driven by Nicholas Graham, 16, of Chesterfield.
