Rehoboth Beach, DE : 24-year-old man dies in Del. 1 motorcycle crash early sunday on July 6, 2014

A 24-year-old Dover man was killed early Sunday when his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a pickup truck on Del. 1 west of Rehoboth Beach, state police said.

The victim was identified as Kenneth E. Hunt 2nd.

The accident happened about 1:40 a.m. at Old Landing Road.

A 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup southbound on Del. 1 (Coastal Highway) had stopped for a red light at the intersection in the right lane.

The light had just changed to green and the truck was moving when Hunt's 2004 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle approached at high speed and struck the rear, Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was wearing a helmet, Fournier said.

The driver of the pickup, Craig M. Shine, 26, of Nottingham, Pa., and two adult male passengers in the truck were not injured.

Southbound Del. 1 was closed about three hours as police investigated.
