Ocala, FL : Dunnellon woman critically injured in Suwannee crash on Thursday, March 29th 2017

A 53-year-old Dunnellon woman was critically injured in a single-vehicle traffic accident in Suwannee County Thursday night.

Melinda Quigley, a passenger in the 2001 Ford pickup, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville following the crash on U.S. 129, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release.

The driver of the truck, Jesse James Bowman, 20, of O’Brien, was seriously injured. He was taken to the Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center.

Suwannee County Fire Rescue responded to the accident, which occurred around 8:49 a.m.

Troopers said the truck was traveling south on U.S. 129 near 208th Street and, for an unknown reason, went off onto the east shoulder, struck a fence and then slammed head-first into a tree.
