A Detroit police officer was hospitalized after a crash during a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop about 2:40 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue near Lappin Street when the crash occurred, according to a release from the Detroit Police Department.

A 23-year-old woman driving a silver Nissan Murano rear-ended a scout car with the officer inside, police said.
