The Newton County School System said Tuesday that Green was a fourth-grader at Rocky Plains Elementary School and his sister is a second-grader at the school.
“Faculty and staff at Rocky Plains Elementary are grieving right now, and we know that many students may also have difficulty receiving this news,” the school system said in a released statement Tuesday afternoon. “Counselors are on hand to provide support to anyone emotionally affected, and they will remain at the school as long as necessary. In addition, the school system is providing support to our transportation team, as they are also struggling as a result of (Monday’s) tragic accident.”
