Fort Smith,AR : Wister man dies Sunday in LeFlore County collision on December, Sunday 24th 2017

A man lost his life in a fatality collision in LeFlore County on Sunday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Joseph Knight, 37 of Wister died in the collision, which took place at about 4:57 a.m. Sunday on Long Lake Road at Ridge Road about two miles south and two miles west of Poteau. Knight was driving west in a 2003 GMC pickup on Ridge Road before his vehicle left the roadway to the left. The pickup rolled once, coming to rest on its wheels and pinning Knight for an unknown amount of time.

Knight was extricated by the Poteau Fire Department using the Hurst Rescue Tool. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Airbags were equipped in the vehicle, but did not deployed. Knight was wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
