MOULTRIE, GA : Driver faces DUI, other charges after crash kills 4-year-old on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020

A Lenox man is facing charges for a Wednesday crash that took the life of a 4-year-old and sent another to the hospital.

Jeffrey McClelland, 48, is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, D.U.I., and two counts each of child restraint law violation and endangerment of child under 14 in reference to a D.U.I. The investigation is continuing.

The Georgia State Patrol said McClelland was traveling north on Albert Brady Road with Haylon Foster, 4, and Jeffrey McClelland Jr., 4, riding in the backseat when his vehicle traveled off the road’s northwest shoulder about 8:25 a.m.

The vehicle traveled through a ditch, skirting one tree and striking another before coming to an uncontrolled rest at the second tree, the GSP said. None of the passengers was ejected.

According to State Trooper Frank Gay, who responded to the scene, an off-duty paramedic was giving chest compressions to Foster prior to his arrival.

Foster taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment but died from his injuries.
