Indianapolis, IN : Indianapolis police officer injured when another vehicle went through a flashing red light and crashed into his patrol car on the city's northwest side on Wednesday night, February 10, 2016
Authorities say an Indianapolis police officer was badly hurt when another vehicle went through a flashing red light and crashed into his patrol car.
The crash happened Wednesday night at an intersection on the city's northwest side. The patrol car was hit at the driver's side door.
Deputy Police Chief Valerie Cunningham says the officer was able to call in the crash but was disoriented. The officer was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but his injuries weren't considered life threatening.
Cunningham says the other driver wasn't badly hurt and was cooperating with police. Investigators don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
