LAKE MACK, FL : A Deland man died and two other people were injured when two cars collided on Sunday, June 4, 2017

A Deland man died and two other people were injured when two cars collided early Sunday morning in the northeast corner of Lake County.

The accident occurred at 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 42 and State Road 44 on the border of Lake and Volusia counties.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the a 2007 Honda was traveling east on State Road 44 and a 2008 Hyundai was headed west. The Honda reportedly veered into the westbound lane, striking the Hyundai head on.

The passenger in the Honda, Jay Sanders, 27 of Deland, was thrown from the vehicle by the impact and died at the scene, investigators say. The driver of the Honda, 26-year-old Lauren Luckie, was taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona with serious injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai escaped with minor injuries.
