MONTGOMERY, PA : A three-vehicle collision on Saturday, July 22, 2017
A three-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday on Route 15 at Cemetery Hill Road just north of the Lycoming County landfill, according to Montgomery Borough Police Sgt. Larry Wilcox.
A total of six people were injured, with two of the vehicle operators taken to Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, with critical injuries. A third operator and three family members were injured, but not seriously, and were taken to the UPMC Susquehanna Regional Medical Center for evaluation, Wilcox said.
There was a heavy downpour of rain when emergency crews arrived, according to Wilcox. It is unclear if the rain was a factor in the crash.
South of the site on Route 15, the southbound lanes at the Route 54 intersection were temporarily shut down to control traffic with assistance from the state Department of Transportation.
A towing service was dispatched to the scene. Route 15 was reopened to traffic by 6:30 p.m.
Names of the injured were not immediately available Saturday night.
Emergency personnel from Clinton Township, Washington Township, South Williamsport, Montgomery, Old Lycoming Township, DuBoistown and from Union County assisted on the scene.
