One man is dead and another is facing life-threatening injuries after an early-morning head-on collision on Marcola Road, Oregon State Police said.
A preliminary investigation found that Todd Elkanah Kenady, 43, of Turner was driving west about 6:35 a.m. Saturday when an eastbound 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into Kenady’s 2011 Chrysler van.
Kenady was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, who was not immediately identified, was transported to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield. His condition was not known late Saturday.
The roadway was fully closed for about five hours following the accident. The investigation was continuing.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Marcola Fire and Rescue, Mohawk Fire and Rescue, the Lane County District Attorney’s Office and the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
