NASHVILLE, TN : Suspect in hit-and-runs admits to smoking crack while driving on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016

A man is behind bars for his alleged involvement in a string of hit-and-runs.Mitchell Vaughn was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly causing nine different crashes.Officers tracked Vaughn down on Shelby Avenue and said they noticed his Mustang had extensive front-end damage.

When questioned, Vaughn allegedly admitted to smoking crack while driving. According to the police report, he said he "had hit it (the pipe) a little bit."

One of the victims said he heard a loud crash and found Vaughn in his front yard. He said Vaughn ran through his fence, damaging both his car and property..

Vaughn, 57, is charged with three counts of leaving the scene of an accident, three counts of failure to give information/render aid, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.
