A Blacksburg motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision with a car, Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said.
The victim was identified as James Derrick Henson Jr., 19, of 514 S. Shelby St. He was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, Fowler said.
Henson was driving a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Oak Grove Road two miles west of Blacksburg at 3 p.m., Fowler said.
The motorcycle collided head-on with a westbound 2010 Honda driven by Megan Aleene Collins of 158 Oak Grove, Blacksburg, Fowler said.
Collins was treated at Mary Black Health Center in Gaffney and released, Fowler said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning to assist with a Highway Patrol investigation, Fowler said.
