Hutchinson, KS : Sterling man doing better in hospital after being involved in fatality crash on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016
A Sterling man’s condition has improved after being involved in a two-vehicle fatality crash on Aug. 3.
Tom Kelly, 53, was in fair condition Tuesday afternoon. He was in serious condition on Aug. 17.
Kelly was sent to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita after reportedly colliding his Nissan Maxima northwest of Sterling with a red Dodge Dakota driven by Jon Oden Jr., 17. Oden’s younger brother, Jacob, 15, died after being ejected from the pickup.
Jon Oden Jr. was injured in the crash but had been subsequently released from the hospital.
The height of corn in the adjacent field made it a blind intersection, which might have contributed to the crash, according to officials with the Rice County Sheriff’s Office.
