CRESSON, PA : A fatal two-vehicle accident on Monday, September 11, 2017
A fatal two-vehicle accident occurred Monday on Admiral Peary Highway near the entrance to Mount Aloysius College in Cresson Township.
It occurred around 4 p.m.
A female in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene by Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees. Her name was withheld pending notification of the family.
Lees’ office plans to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death on Tuesday.
“It is unclear why this accident happened,” Lees said. “The coroner’s office, along with the Pennsylvania State Police, investigated the accident. We’re still investigating the accident.”
The female was driving eastbound when her car crossed the center line, striking head-on into a westbound pickup truck, according to Lees. The truck then overturned. The driver of the truck was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown for examination.
That driver did not appear to have any serious injuries, according to Lees.
