Stockton, CA : Two people killed after parked truck crash on Wednesday October 5 2016

Two people died after a man accused of DUI crashed into a parked truck in a Stockton neighborhood, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday. The driver, identified as Arturo Reyes, 44, of Stockton, was arrested on DUI-related charges, CHP said.

Reyes' two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. CHP determined the rear passenger was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on West Lane, just south of Fulton Street, CHP said. Witnesses told authorities that Reyes was speeding down the street.

Reyes was driving southbound on West Lane when he lost control of the car and crashed into a parked Chevrolet work truck, the CHP said.

The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet to hit the rear of a parked GMC truck next to it, and then slammed into a nearby home. CHP said the home sustained minor damage.

Paramedics reported Reyes suffered major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, CHP said.

CHP believes there might be other vehicles involved in the crash. The vehicles are described as a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan, red/burgundy van, or a silver car, officers said. These vehicles may have been traveling southbound on West Lane at the time of the crash.
